WITH DERMAL FILLERS

Bespoke Dermal Filler Treatments

Dermal fillers are an extremely popular and highly effective treatment due to their versatility. They can be used to create statement looks or can be used more discreetly to achieve the look you desire.
Dermal fillers are commonly used to give a more youthful look to patients by softening and contouring lines, folds and wrinkles as well as replacing lost volume in certain areas of the face which may be associated with ageing. Dr Sofia takes pride in delivering exceptional natural results following a comprehensive consultation.
They can be used to treat various areas of the face and body and there are many different types of dermal fillers that are best suited to treat certain areas depending on their thickness/composition. Only the very best products are used which have exceptional treatment outcomes in terms of longevity of treatment and predictable, safe results. Dr Sofia will carefully select the product she believes to be the best possible option to deliver your desired treatment outcomes.

What are Dermal Fillers?

These are gel-like substances that contain Hyaluronic Acid (HA) which is a substance that is found naturally in our body. They are free from animal and human products.
Hyaluronic Acid works to promote collagen production and binds moisture particles and in this way works to hydrate and volumise skin tissue. Due to the fact that HA is found naturally in the body, hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers are considered safe when injected safely and skillfully.
Although results can last for a significant time period, they are eventually resorbed by the body, just like natural hyaluronic acid and therefore are an ideal treatment option for those individuals that do not want to permanently alter their appearance for example via a surgical procedure.

Lip Enhancement

Lip filler injections can alter and improve the appearance of your lips in many different ways including: reshaping, plumping, hydrating and correcting any visible asymmetry. Each lip filler treatment is specific to each individual and treatment will vary in terms of the quantity, type and placement of the dermal filler.
Sometimes this treatment can be combined with Botulinum toxin in order to achieve the perfect pout and smile, for example alongside the gummy smile treatment. It is extremely important that lip fillers are delivered in a professional manner with fine attention to the shape of the lips, not just the size, to create a sought after look and thereby avoiding unnatural artificial looking lips such as the undesirable "trout-pout" lips. Lip fillers produce instant results, however it is important to not over-inflate the lips by over-injecting during your treatment. Rather successive treatments are encouraged in order to achieve subtle and successful results and to avoid complications.
Dr Sofia's lip fillers of choice include Juvederm, Teosyal and Perfectha, which are leading dermal fillers due to their superior results, safety profile and are FDA approved. Although lip filler treatment is temporary, these products offer longer than average treatment outcomes, making them an even more desirable product choice. Results are seen instantly and typically last 4-6 months on average, sometimes longer depending upon the product used. Topical anaesthetic is used to make the treatment as comfortable as possible. A detailed consultation will occur before treatment and thorough aftercare is provided following all treatment.

Cheek Enhancement

This is an extremely popular treatment in many different age groups and for both males and females. Not only can this treatment sculpt and redefine your cheeks, it can enhance and contour your profile, soften and improve lines by lifting and supporting your skin and can also improve the under eye area by improving the skin in this area to provide a fresher and more youthful appearance.
Treatment is performed with a needle or a cannula, or sometimes both and is largely painless. Although results are instant, optimum outcomes may be seen at up to four weeks post-treatment. This is an extremely versatile treatment and therefore is a very popular treatment choice as it can produce facial harmonisation in a minimally invasive manner.

Under Eye Rejuvenation

Various factors including age, lifestyle and genetic factors can lead to an individual developing under-eye hollows/depressions which are also termed "tear troughs". For such individuals, the tear trough dermal filler treatment is an excellent way in which to refresh and improve the under-eye area. It is ideal for those individuals whose eyes or facial complexion appears tired all the time, even after a good night’s sleep. Dr Sofia uses Teosyal Redensity 2, which is the only dermal filler licenced in the UK to be used in this area of the face.
Treatment is performed via a cannula in order to decrease discomfort and promote patient safety in this delicate area. Although this treatment does not correct any underlying pigmentation, it is an excellent way in which to improve the overall complexion of the under-eye area and can help the eye to appear brighter, more refreshed and less tired. Results are seen immediately and can last up to a year. There is next to no down-time and therefore is an ideal treatment choice for those with a busy schedule or lifestyle wanting to instant refresh their appearance.

Brow Lift

Dermal filler can be injected below the eyebrow to help lift and enhance the eye area. It can emphasise the brow arch, lift any sagging/dropping skin around the eyebrow area and open up the eye area so that it appears more refreshed and youthful. This can be complimented with a chemical brow lift treatment which is essentially Botulinum toxin or can be a stand alone dermal filler treatment.

Smoker's Lines

These are lines around the mouth area (perioral lines) which appear as part of the normal ageing process or if you have smoked for a number of years due to the repetitive movement of skin tissue in this area. These lines can make the lower face (and the whole face overall) appear more aged due the puckering of the skin. A soft dermal filler can transform this area by filling out these lines and providing structure and hydration to this neglected area. Additionally, a combination approach can be taken whereby both dermal filler and Botulinum toxin can be used to collectively soften and diminish these lines. Lip fillers can also be combined with this treatment in order to restore volume to the upper lip which can also help to improve perioral lines.

Nasolabial Lines

These are lines/folds that extend from the nose down towards the mouth/lip area and their cause may be multifactorial. For example as the skin ages it loses collagen and elastin and therefore the skin has a tendency to wrinkle/crease more easily. Additionally, we have underlying fat pads beneath the skin which hold our skin in place and provide a support/skeleton for the skin. As we age, we lose fat and therefore the skin’s support structure is compromised and this results in sagging and skin laxity, which can manifest as nose-to-mouth lines/folds. These can be treated directly by dermal fillers.
Alternatively treatment can be combined together with cheek fillers in order to provide support and structure to the skin in order to soften and reduce these lines.

Marionette Lines

These are lines/folds that extend from the corners of the lips down towards the chin/jaw area and their cause may be multifactorial. For example as the skin ages it loses collagen and elastin and therefore the skin has a tendency to wrinkle/crease more easily. Additionally, we have underlying fat pads beneath the skin which hold our skin in place and provide a support/skeleton for the skin. As we age, we lose fat and therefore the skin's support structure is compromised and this results in sagging and skin laxity, which can manifest as marionette lines/folds. These can be treated directly by dermal fillers.
In some individuals this treatment can be combined with Botulinum toxin which can be used to relax the muscles in this area which may be contributing to the skin being pulled downwards. This is not always an effective treatment on its own and is therefore used in conjunction with dermal fillers to treat this area of concern.

Jaw Sculpting

Whether you require definition of your jawline or whether you are concerned about the effect of ageing on your jaw and face shape, jaw sculpting is an extremely popular treatment option. It can be used to contour and define you natural jawline or it can be used to improve concerns such as jowls by tightening the skin in this area and reducing the amount of skin sagging.
This may be a standalone treatment or it can be used in conjunction with chin and cheek fillers in order to optimise contouring of your face. Additionally, Botulinum toxin can be used in the jaw muscles in order to slim the jaw and therefore improve definition in this way.

Non-Surgical Facelift

This treatment uses a combination of Botulinum toxin and dermal fillers of differing types to balance one's facial profile and also to provide volume over the cheekbones, mid-face and lower face. Dr Sofia will carry out a comprehensive consultation to review your areas of concerns and highlight opportunities for enhancement.

Client Post Treatment Information

What are the potential side effects of Dermal Filler treatments?

Common side effects include some discomfort, redness, irritation, swelling and bruising, however these are short lived and safe. The majority of treatments using dermal fillers have very little/no downtime and therefore treatments can be performed at any time such as in your lunch break or prior to a social engagement – i.e. very little to no impact on you day to day activities. However, some treatments such as lip fillers should betime carefully to avoid any imminent social engagements given the greater likelihood of bruising/swelling.
More severe but uncommon side effects are possible and these will be discussed during your consultation.

Things you can do to improve your treatment outcomes?

Avoid any blood thinning medications or treatments prior to and after the procedure
Avoid alcohol for 24-48 hours before and after treatment
Avoid sun exposure to the area before treatment and after
Be honest regarding your medical history and personal circumstances
Inform your practitioner if you have previously had a cold sore. Treatments around the mouth/lip area should be avoided in active infection until the infection has cleared
